SE was one of the first sites I came across when researching the breed, along with A1savannahs, which makes sense. However, they both must run exceptionally large operations because they turn out more cats than I have ever seen. I remember seeing that elite kitten section, and while they are nice looking high percentage f1s, it's a ridiculous price to pay. I personally wouldn't want any high percentage bengal in a savannah as the rosettes are a turn off in the breed for me. I enjoy how they look on a bengal however.

I saw the list of cat shows posted on the forum somewhere and was disappointed to see that a lot of them are overseas or too far in the US for me to travel. Maybe next year.

Diane, funny you should mention the kink in the bengal lineage SV. My F5 has a kink, also. Hmmmmmm.... It doesn't seem to bother her.
Thanks for the heads up about a show in Wheaton. Might be something to do that weekend. I haven't met another SV owner around here, though Holly said she sells a lot in this neck of the woods.

Kinks don't bother them- but it can be genetic. If a parent has a kink, it can be passed down.

It's just one of those unique things that kitties can have- I say it adds character!

I read a bit on this, and when the kink is somewhere else on the column or at the base of the tail, it can cause more problems.

SE still uses Bengals...many of their kittens have Rosettes....

Many breeders were using Bengal studs nine years ago, there were very few (if any) fertile Savannah males back then. I have no idea if Select Exotics still uses Bengals in their Savannah program but I do know that they were the first breeders to produce SBT Savannahs (three generations of SV x SV breeding) and were registering SBTs at least a year before any other breeder, so I know for sure that they have been using Savannah studs for several years now.

Jason, there are many, many cat shows in the US...way more than overseas...where are you located?

Kinks are pretty common- in all cats- I'd be concerned only if it was at the base of the tail and ONLY if the kitten was showing issues with using the potty. Otherwise, it's just something that happens- you can cause it yourself (shut a tail in the door!), they can be born that way due to position in the womb, it can be genetic, or a trauma can result in a kink.

They do still use Bengals, but so do many others...where did you get your info about the SBT's? I have only seen that info on their website...
