How much to feed as they grow

Yes, its def diff from cat to cat. My late cat would only eat kibble and had thyroid probs. I have never even offered Tojo kibble and dont plan to. Cats go thru some interesting changes as they grow. Tojo who used to love all attention from anyone now hides whenever guests come over now for the first 5-10 min.

yes, they definitely change in personality as they grow...my friends get very upset that taj, who as a kitten would allow them to hold him, no longer like to be held. He is still loving, but has just changed...I think sometimes this is why there are so many adult cats in shelters...the cute kitten changes in personality and people just want the cute kitten to stay kittenish...imagine if it was the same attitude with children?

Think about it - you have a baby that is so cute and cuddly and depends on you...then you have a toddler who grows through the terrible twos...then you have a school age child who is now learning the ways of the world, so to speak, but is still your little child, who mostly worships you...and then...you have a teenager :roflmao:

A little update. Took simba to the vets today to get him weighed and check out a small hernia that we will take care of when we have him neutered. Yes that's right we haven't neutered him. My vet won't do it before 6 months old and likes to wait a little longer on big breed cats to get some hormones flowing. Plus we want to do the hernia and neuter at the same Time and we were waiting to see if the hernia would go away.

Simba is 10.5 pounds and looks good.

But that's the thing - Savannahs are not necessarily considered a "big" breed and the more that moniker is promoted, the more we will have to fight for the right to keep our savannahs if we are allowed to have them at all in the future.

Ty!! Unfortunately, I can't feed him 3 times a day. But will do so twice a day. With Abu, I almost think he would act like he was famished even after eating a meal 10 mins prior LOL. I can't blame him at 18 wks ... He is over 8lbs ... Zeus and Abu are completely opposite. Zeus rarely eats anything other than kibble, though I've tried other types of food. He has grown a great deal (though not as big as Abu). But he hasn't put on any weight for near a month ... He still is at 5.6 lbs ={
Yep, Abu is a pig! I can testify about that!

I agree, but in my Vets defense he is "TROUBLE'S" (the worlds largest domestic cat) Vet. so you can maybe understand why he might consider Savannah's a large breed.

Also when do Savannah's quite growing. Are they full grown at a year old? Is it the same a a regular kittie?
Thanks

They probably stop growing lengthwise at about a year to 18 months and then fill out from there...but it all depends on the cat, I think.

My % might be off a little but not by much.
I've read that you should feed your cat 2-3 % of his weight. Kittens up to 10% of their adult weight.
My question is when do you start to transition from 10% downwards to the 2-3%

Simba is 8 months old and about 10lbs
He is on a raw diet and eating 10-12 oz daily.
Also Savannah's adult weight can very by as much as 10lbs
Thanks
Mark

Feed them as much as they want. :)
