Don't stop looking.

And don't assume he's having a great time...he may enjoy your backyard, but if he went further he may have well been frightened by a sudden noise he didn't know or a big dog and has gone into hiding. When scared a cat can hide for days before being hungry enough to come out...

You said you lived in the country, how "country" is it? Are there neighbors within reach that you can let know to keep an eye out for your kitty? So that if anyone hears a lost kitty meowing they might go investigate...

I'm serious when I tell you this...go buy an inexpensive baby monitor and place it on your doorstep. My mother-in-law was vacationing in Florida for several months and took her cat. He got out one night and was missing for a week. She was beside herself with worry. It finally dawned on her to try a monitor, in case he came around while she was sleeping. My father-in-law thought she was nuts, but lo and behold, she found him the very afternoon that she used the monitor. If he comes back, it will pick up his cries....good luck and God bless you in your search.

If they get out the best thing to do is open the door and get near it, clang the food bowls together. Without fail, my fur babies come running. It's definitely worth a shot.

Really hope found soon! I wonder how fast cats are found and taken to shelter when lost. Then if they're microchipped then you will be contacted.
