Now Presenting: Yuki and Yeti

My boys get baths because of my alergies.
I have found that they have gotten easier over time, so I hope you have the same experience!

Since I cannot yet introduce the very nifty Hyendry stuff I bought for the kitties until the scourge of ringworm has passed, I have been trying to find stuff to entertain the furry little fiends.

Cardstock, simple 3x5 index cards, crumpled up into a rough ball seem to be a lot of fun for Yeti and occasionally Yuki. She seems to let him have most of the fun and then jumps in periodically.

Economical and a blast to watch the cats bat around for now. I already know they'll love the Hyendry stuff just from the way they went nuts for the Bunny Batter that was released into the environment and has now vanished somewhere. Paz has hidden it like he does with his mouse toys. :)

Where to start, hmmm.

Last night - home invasion false alarm.
Back when I bought the house and then got San and Paz, I found what I thought was this really cool toy that resembles a giant rat. It is heavy, has sisal rope on the back, a tail that contains a rattle, ears that make a crinkly noise, and an elastic band for hanging it from either a doorknob or bedpost. They had no interest in it.

A few years later . . . Yuki and Yeti discovered this toy and decided it was lots of fun so I decided to hang it from the doorknob in the safe room. Two weeks pass and while they did play with it, the noise was minimal, until last night I was awakened at 3:00am by 4 very loud bangs against a door and bounded out of bed thinking I was about to have to face down a home invasion in my underwear. Needless to say when they confirmed there was no home invasion other than the Savannah kind by bashing it against the safe room door a 5th time, I marched in, took it off the door, marched out and went back to bed, too wiped out to be annoyed.

The little buggers chose to use the rat, which currently weighs more than Yeti despite his now 4lbs 4 oz, as a wrecking ball to wreck any chance of 40 winks.

Today - Paz, who used to have this wonderful voice has either developed something wrong with his throat or is imitating Yuki's goat/sheep noise. I suspect the imitation since he is eating and drinking just fine.

Yuki being her usual strong-willed self decided to day would be a good day to charge up onto my shoulder and rub her ringworm engulfed ear against my ear. :cautious: I can't wait to see if she just gave me the itch of deaf.

At least the liquid medicine arrived today and dosing was not a long involved process.

Tonight - I spent some time hanging out with the SVs and captured a blurry chase scene followed by some wrestling.

So there you have it ladies and gentlemen, the latest episode of YYP.

Son of biscuit, Paz is a little under the weather. I finally got a look and saw that his nictating membranes are showing more than typical. I had to pay the scratch-the-hell-out-of-Jim toll in order to see them, but there it is, he's a touch ill. :(

He will get a trip to the vet if the problem appears to be hindering him or it persists, otherwise just a close watching and lot's of petting.

I'm also under the weather, but this is the first time both of us have been feeling sick at once.

Goodness gracious, you have been through the ringer. Sorry to hear that you and Paz are under the weather and that the ringworm eradication efforts are still ongoing. Sounds like Yuki believes that blistering, itching & oozing is a family affair:) Keeping my digits crossed that you don't get ringworm, that Paz and you feel better soon, and that nasty fungus succumbs to your efforts.

Thanks Deborah.

I am keeping a close eye on Paz. He is losing more of his voice, and seemed to be about to puke at one point, but he is active and does not have a fever.

So much for sleep. If they're going to have a problem requiring observation, it seems to always be at night.

Took Paz to the vet this morning since he was feverish and still having issues. The vet indicated that it appearedf to be a virus more like a flu or cold and he should manage to beat it within the week. If he seems to get worse and if his fever comes back and becomes persistant wth signs of bacteria then the vet will give Paz some anti-biotics. Meanwhile he is back home, and this time he didn't soil the carrier (a sure sign he wasn't feeling well enough to engage in a true protest).:poop:

Jim, hopefully it is a virus and Paz will get back to normal ASAP!

Paz is still feeling rough and has intermittant low grade fever, but he is still eating and drinking. He has been spending a lot of time curling up next to me at night. He will do that occasionally for short periods of time, but being sick I think he finds it comforting.

Yuki and Yeti are two days into the oral meds. After one day I could already see some slight improvement on Yuki's ear. Yeti has many more lesions so it will take more time to notice improvement. I ended up wearing half of Yuki's dose last night because despite the salmon flavor, she doesn't like being dosed.

Is taxidermy really an option when a cat makes you angry? ;)

Today I moved the critters to another room so I could fog a room. After the fogging was complete and I was trying to take the SVs back to the safe room, Yuki broke free and went after Paz (who is still sick) and really tried doing him harm. When I stepped in to break up the rather one sided battle she moved away and started taking her bad mood out on Yeti who had done nothing.

Looks like acclimation is going to take a while once it officially gets underway. Yeti and Paz will be the easy part, but Yuki is causing some concern due to this outburst.

I also have a scratch to the face from prior to this while Yuki was running around a room and used my face as a springboard, knocking my glasses off in the process.

She remains isolated for now and Yeti is curled up in my lap snoozing. He now follows me around like a dog. He is also reminding me a little of San which puts a smile on my face. I still miss San, but it is nice to see something of his great personality in Yeti.

Today is bath day so that will start in just a bit.
